Its that time of the year again when many of us find that we seem to be heading too and from work when it is dark. After about 4pm you need to ensure that you have your headlights on and possibly even earlier on days when there is a lot of cloud cover, and it is very grey.

It is vital that your headlights work accordingly to ensure the optimum safety when driving in the dark.
You firstly need to ensure that your headlights, full beam and side lights are all working. This is easily done with two people or can even be done on your own if required. If you are also needed to test the brakes, then you can place something on the pedal to depress it whilst you are checking.

If you notice that your headlights seem to be very dim, but the bulbs are all working as they should then it may be something physical on your headlight that is causing the issue. Often this time of year the roads are very dirty, and you may find that this dirt easily accumulates on your headlights. This can very quickly obstruct the light beam and cause your headlights to appear really dim. It is important that you check your lights regularly to ensure that this does not happen and if they are getting dirty then take the time to give them a quick clean even if you don’t have time to clean the rest of the car.
