The AMC Pacer was an extremely wide car, and because the narrow cars we have today were not popular in the early 70’s, the pacer aimed to live up to a Cadillac style. It’s fair to say that it didn’t exactly work out, and even though it had lots of interior space, it didn’t perform so well on the roads.

It gained a fair few orders early on though, and only over time did it develop its name as one of the worst cars, and its appearance certainly had something to do with it. The passenger doors was around 4 inches longer than the driver’s side door, while 40 percent of the car’s total surface was glass, so it certainly wasn’t well protected in that department.

Then again its poor reputation has made it a classic, and it is actually a collector’s item because of it, and they certainly sell for a big price if they’re in good condition.
