If you are looking to buy a second hand car then it pays to do some research before you go to look at it. The government now offers a lot of information on a vehicle online that previously was hard to obtain. Current and previous MOT’s can be found with a list of if the car passed/failed and any advisory’s given. This is a great way to find out if there is any major work that may need to be done on the next MOT. Although not fail proof it can help to get an idea of what the car is like.

Another item you can check is the tax and insurance. Although tax can no longer be transferred its still a good idea to see when it ran out as you will have a good idea as to if the car has been used recently or if it has been parked up for a while.
