With autonomous vehicles just around the corner, many people are questioning whether this is a good thing or bad thing. An Autonomous car or driverless car is one that can interpret its surroundings by using a number of different advanced technological systems, to drive with no or very little input from a person. These cars have been in the making for a number of years now and we can see elements of driverless cars filtering through in to many of today’s models.
Self-parking vehicles are becoming very popular especially in cities where spaces may be small and limited. The car has a number of sensors and cameras to allow it to accurate park itself in a relatively small space.
Other functions that you may have recently see are lane assist which will automatically correct the steering of a vehicle that is drifting in to another lane. In the future scientists expect to make vehicles that can start, drive, stop and park on their own. The chances are these vehicles will all be electric by then which means they could even be programmed to drive up to a charging bay and plug themselves in, moving back to another space once they are fully charged.
