Unfortunately, this year, there seems to of been quite a number of accidents at car shows and events across the country. This bears this question, should these events still go on and if so what needs to be done about improving safety at such events.

The majority of accidents seem to occur when the crowd are stood too close to the race track or arena. The safety for the drivers of the vehicles has improved drastically over the years, but for spectators often there is just a plastic strip between them and the speeding vehicles.

These events need to be organised a lot better in my opinion. Proper barriers should be used and there should be marshals at regular intervals along the track to make sure that spectators are staying within the boundaries. Doing this alone would cut down enormously on the number of accidents involving spectators and would possibly even save lives.
