If you still don’t know, the paper tax disc will be scarred on the 1st October 2014. With history going back over 93 years, the tax disc was an essential part of the UK motor industry.

The new road tax system will make it much tougher for dodgers to avoid paying their tax. Authorities will now rely on numberplate recognition cameras, which determine whether a vehicle has been taxed or not.

If you have a tax disc which runs after October, you can still keep it in your car windscreen past October 1st, but just remember you’re not required to. If you wanted to, you can remove the disc with no penalty.
