Limp mode on Vauxhall Insignia

The Vauxhall Insignia is a great family car. It looks sporty but is also extremely practical and has plenty of space in the seating cabin and in the boot. You can pick up one of the older Insignias for around £2000 but often as they are used by the police or for rep cars, they may have high mileage. If they car has done a lot of miles it is important to check that it has been serviced regularly in order to maintain the engine. If it has not been serviced you may find that you encounter a lot of issues.

One common fault on a lot of Vauxhalls is the car going in to limp mode unexpectedly. This is usually due to a faulty sensor or an issue with the air intake.

If the vehicle is a turbo, you need to check the pipe for cracks or tears. You may want to give it a quick inspection yourself or you may decide to head straight to the garage to let them have a look at it. If they just clear the fault and hand it back to you, it is likely the fault will come up again at some point in the near future. If this happens for a second time it is worth asking them to investigate the issue further to find out what may be causing it.
